RBNY Fan Take: Mulligan’s in Hoboken to Host NY Red Bulls Viewing Party on October 15
The New York Red Bulls have hosted numerous away day "viewing parties" in the New York and New Jersey area. This weekend, such an event will occur at a rather popular soccer pub in Hoboken, New Jersey.
The Red Bulls announced on Wednesday via Facebook and Twitter that Mulligan's Pub in Hoboken will host a Red Bulls viewing party on Saturday, October 15 when New York takes on Sporting Kansas City. Coverage of the 4:00 pm match, which will air on MSG, starts at 3:30 with a 30-minute pregame show. Those looking to attend the Red Bulls viewing party may want to head out to Mulligan's a bit earlier in the day, however, as the soccer pub will be showing EPL matches throughout the morning and afternoon. According to the Facebook event page, the viewing party is scheduled to run until 8:00 pm.
As of the writing of this sentence, no specifics regarding the event have been announced by either the Red Bulls or Mulligan's. In previous instances, the pub hosting the viewing party has offered both food and drink specials before, during and after the match. Those attending the event will also have opportunities to win unspecified prizes. In the past, such prizes included merchandise from both the New York Red Bulls and MSG.
Mulligan's, located on 159 First Street in Hoboken, is a very short walk away from the city's PATH Train/NJ Metro/NYC Waterway stations. There will also be numerous cabs available directly outside of the PATH station for those not feeling making the journey on foot. Individuals looking to save a few bucks can grab a slice of pizza at one of four pizzerias within walking distance of the pub.
Once inside Mulligan's, New York Red Bulls fans will find television sets located throughout the three main areas of the pub. Mulligan's also features a wide variety of domestic and foreign beers both on tap and in bottles. Individuals looking to grab a bite to eat while watching the Red Bulls can choose from a variety of popular "bar food" snacks. Mulligan's also offers an Irish Breakfast as tremendous as any you'll find at any soccer pub, as well as some rather tremendous sausage rolls. As a soccer geek who also loves himself what the wife and I like to call "fat kid food," I highly recommend splitting a few of the bar's dishes with some mates while watching a match or two.
It's very unlikely that Saturday afternoon's event will match the one hosted by the Football Factory roughly one month prior. That doesn't mean Red Bulls fans in the area should miss out on this get-together. The Red Bulls can't afford to surrender a single point between now and the end of the MLS regular season, and fans won't want to miss any of the action on Saturday. Why bite your nails alone on your couch when you could watch what will likely be a nerve-racking contest for all RBNY supporters with some fellow fans? Those within the NYC/Hoboken area can get to Mulligan's via the PATH Train, NJ Transit train, bus, Light Rail or good ol' fashioned car, so there's absolutely no reason any Red Bulls fan should be alone while watching this Saturday's contest.
