AC Milan general manager Adriano Galliani on Sunday admitted the Italian club’s offer for David Beckham is well short of what the Los Angeles Galaxy are demanding.

Beckham on Wednesday expressed his desire to convert his current short-term loan with Milan into a permanent move and walk out on a five-year contract he signed with the Galaxy in 2007.

AC Milan and the Galaxy are currently in negotiations, and Galliani is hopeful the two parties will arrive at an agreement before Beckham is due back in America on March 9.

“We have made an offer to Galaxy and they didn’t accept it,” Galliani told Sky Italia. “However, there’s a willingness to talk between a party who’s making an offer, which is Milan, and another who’s evaluating it.

“At the moment we’re very far apart but there is still a month left.”

Galaxy CEO Tim Leiweke told the Los Angels Times on Saturday the AC Milan’s offer for the English star was too low and that time was running out to meet the Major League Soccer outfit’s valuation.

“We need to end the distractions, the circus and the zoo,” Leiweke said. “We just received an offer. It was rejected.”

The Galaxy’s asking price reportedly has been estimated at between $10 million and $20 million,

“Tim Leiweke decides for them. I write to him and he responds,” Galliani said.
