NEW YORK (AP)—Landon Donovan is a finalist for Major League Soccer’s MVP award and Kasey Keller is up for three postseason honors.

Donovan, the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder, FC DallasJeff Cunningham and New England’s Shalrie Joseph were the top three in voting by league players, general managers, coaches, referees and media.

Keller is up against the Galaxy’s Donovan Ricketts and Chivas USA’s Zach Thornton for top goalkeeper honors.

Keller, the most capped goalkeeper in United States national team history, and his Sounders were all over the list of finalists announced Monday by MLS. Keller is also up for the best newcomer and fair play awards, while coach Sigi Schmid and defender Jhon Kennedy Hurtado are also award candidates.

The Sounders are definitely going to win at least one award: Freddie Ljungberg and Fredy Montero are the other top newcomer finalists.

Houston’s Pat Onstad and the Revolution’s Steve Ralston are Keller’s competition for the fair play award.

Galaxy coach Bruce Arena and the Crew’s Robert Warzycha are up against Schmid, while Hurtado’s competition is Houston’s Geoff Cameron and Columbus’ Chad Marshall.

The Chicago Fire’s Brian McBride, a former United States striker, is a finalist for comeback player of the year, along with Thornton and D.C. United’s Ben Olsen.

Toronto FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei, Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez and midfielder/forward Chris Pontius of D.C. United are up for rookie of the year.

13, montero is not underrated, as he is only a rookie but he is still respected. if anyone in the MLS is underrated it is shalrie joseph, i think very few people who are not revs fans know who he is.

I am a Sounders fan. I don't like Blanco but would love to have him on our team anyday. Fredy Montero is the most underated player in the league.

Donovan is a @#$%. He cheated -- a hand ball goal to help LA to a tie with Chivas. A good player should never cheat to get a goal... Shame on him and shame on MLS with its blind refs... Cheaters should be punished, not awarded. When he cheated to get a goal like that, he spat on the real soccer fans.

I'm a big Houston fan... but how did Robbie Findley not make it? That guy is constantly scoring and scored the go ahead goal last week... donovan ya did alright (scored a slop goal but a goal is a goal) and joseph was good too and kasey keller was a beast in goal but findley did work as well

Too bad donovan cannot do anything on the National level. I played college ball and I could probly score some goals in the MLS. That league is so weak and un-attractive. I am and always will be a Fire fan, but Blanco is a joke as well. My mom can run faster than him! He is a good spark on your team, too bad the Fire couldnt have got him 10 years ago!

Blanco really no way, he is good but isnt near as versatile as Donovan or Joseph. I hope Donovan Ricketts gets the top goalkeeper honors. He is a coner stone for the galaxy, Ricketts is a big reason why the Galaxy finsihed 1st in the West. I hope he is with the Galaxy for may more years.

Donovan is an amazing player he's shown his amazing moves in the USMNT and in the Galaxy. He has been an amazing asset to the team and great teamplayer. I hope he gets it!

I like Donovan as the MVP but there is a solid argument for Shalrie Joseph. Joseph is probably the most relied-upon player by his respective team. Without him, the revs are watching the playoffs instead of participating.

Someone, um Mr. Kraft, needs to pay him what he's worth.

Negative, Blanco is indeed a very talented player, without him the fire would be completely lost, but he's not as good as Donovan. Donavon has speed and agility, something that Blanco doesn't posses and Donovan can play in both the midfield and up front as a striker, Blanco just isn't as versatile.
