Report: Lincecum has agreement on pot charge (AP)

San Francisco Giants ace Tim Lincecum has an agreement with a prosecutor in his home state of Washington that could settle his misdemeanor marijuana charge, The Columbian reported Friday. The Vancouver, Wash., newspaper said Clark County prosecutors have reached a deal with a lawyer for the 2008 Cy Young Award winner that would result in a $250 fine for possessing a marijuana pipe.

The Giants have carefully cultivated Tim Lincecum's image in his three seasons with the team, and it certainly didn't hurt when Lincecum won the 2008 National League Cy Young Award.

But that image took a hit at least a little now that he faces misdemeanor marijuana charges after getting pulled over for speeding in Washington state on Oct. 30.

According to the police report, the officer who pulled over Lincecum smelled marijuana and requested that the pitcher hand over the drug. Lincecum presented 3.3 grams and a pipe. He faces fines as much as $622. A pretrial conference was scheduled for Nov. 23, and he's to appear before a judge Dec. 22.

It's a minor charge, the fine is a drop in the bucket, and he isn't the first professional athlete to find himself in that type...
