Jason Bergmann too often tries too hard to get himself out of tight spots on the mound, and he almost always pays the price for it.

During a 10-5 loss to the Braves on Friday, Bergmann put himself in a third-inning jam. He proceeded to walk three batters, one with the bases loaded, and that knocked him out of the game.

Pitching coach Randy St. Claire believes the right-hander is letting his emotions get the best of him.

"I mean, you can see it in his face out there," St. Claire said. "He's getting mad and you can see the frustration in his face. I just think he's putting a lot of pressure on himself, trying to do more than he's capable of."

Bergman is now 2-11 with a 5.16 ERA for the season, and he's struggled mightily over the last month. ...More
