The Brewers have devised a plan for getting right-hander Dave Bush back in the starting rotation shortly after the All-Star break.

Bush has not pitched since June 20 in Detroit, shortly after which a micro-tear was discovered above his pitching elbow. That injury apparently occurred when Bush was struck by a liner June 4 in Florida.

Bush has been undergoing a throwing program, stepping up the intensity in recent days. The plan is for Bush to make a rehabilitation start for Class AA Huntsville the day after the All-Star Game, then return to action on July 20 in Pittsburgh.

"It would be nice if he could pitch for us that first day in Pittsburgh," said manager Ken Macha.
