Declaring that it was "Show Time"—a proclamation he made both at the beginning and the end of his pregame media session, Manny Ramirez finally returned from his 50-game suspension on Friday night, starting in left field for the Dodgers at San Diego.

Alas, Show Time didn't last long. Ramirez was lifted after the top of the sixth, just after he popped out to cap an 0-for-3 performance at the plate that also included a walk.

With a day game on tap for Saturday, Dodgers manager Joe Torre presumably didn't want to push it with Ramirez, who hadn't played in a major-league game since May 7, and the Dodgers were leading by a comfortable five runs at the time Torre inserted Juan Pierre in left field and removed Ramirez from the game.
