Angels reliever Justin Speier has an explanation for his recent "rough patch" that includes allowing a walk-off home run to Evan Longoria at Tampa Bay on Friday and taking another loss there on Sunday.

It's just baseball.

"It really was just two games," he said. "You're cruising along then all of a sudden—boom, boom."

Speier's philosophical take on the two losses did not stop him from seeking solutions with Angels pitching coach Mike Butcher. The two spent some extra time in the bullpen before the past two games trying to iron out some control issues.

"A little of this, a little of that," Speier said. "It's just making sure my direction is going towards home plate and the catcher.
