Torrealba, Embree file for free agency (AP)

The Colorado Rockies have declined their part of mutual options on catcher Yorvit Torrealba and left-hander Alan Embree, and they both filed for free agency. Torrealba receives a $500,000 buyout instead of a $4 million salary, and Embree gets a $250,000 buyout instead of a $3 million salary. Left-hander Joe Beimel spent two months with the Rockies in 2009 and made 26 appearances, but his brief stay with the club apparently ended Nov. 5. One day after the World Series, the Rockies announced they had agreed to terms with Randy Flores, who like Beimel, is a left-handed reliever.

Flores, who had been arbitration-eligible, settled on a one-year, $650,000 deal.

Beimel, a 32-year-old free agent, went 0-1 with a 4.02 ERA for Colorado, allowing 19 hits in 15 2/3 innings with four walks and 11 strikeouts. The Rockies appear ready to go with the left-handed combination of Franklin Morales and Flores in their bullpen.

The Rockies acquired Beimel from the Nationals at the July 31 trade deadline for minor league right-handers Ryan Mattheus and Robinson Fabian.

The Colorado Rockies agreed Thursday to an $850,000, one-year contract with right-hander Matt Belisle and a $650,000, one-year deal with left-hander Randy Flores. Belisle was 3-1 with a 5.52 ERA in 24 appearances with the Rockies last season. He can earn an additional $225,000 based on games pitched: $25,000 each for 55, 60 and 65, and $75,000 each for 70 and 75.
