I'm surprised that we are still 2nd in ERA after all the runs that were given up this past week(Txas) but i guees some of those runs were unearned with the defense struggling. On a side note though, Chen was awesome tonight and his work getting into the late innings really helped us out as our starters havent gone that deep lately. i'd say it definately will be tough against Texas and LA next week. The angels are picking up steam and Texas is... Texas, but i think the A's could get a few wins and stay within striking distance of the AL west race.
Thanks Dave. Yeah the A's are playing better than most predicted however this will be a big week playing division rival's L.A. Angels and Texas (both on the road), so we will see if it lasts. As for your O's if they continue to pitch this well then they will surely be a playoff team. The Orioles are 2nd in the AL in pitching ERA coming into tonight's games.
Richard I'm glad for you that your A's are doing well. They are playing very scrappy small ball, and it is working. As for the O's, yeah they are playing great team baseball. The major weakness right now is the corner infielders, and the rotation isnt at full strength, but they hit a lot of homerun, they play hard and make the plays that count. the bullpen has been awesome.
Hey everyone, the MLB season is in full swing. Dave your Orioles are playing lights out Baseball...Kevin your Indians are leading their division...Joey your Brewers have lost some key players and it is showing and EG your Phillies are NOT playing up to par...My Oakland A's are playing very good Baseball as they wait for the arrival of Manny Ramirez then hopefully we will chase down the Texas Rangers...Let's get this Yahoo MLB Ranker board going again....
Go A's!!!
nobody has posted since April 20th?? I love how everything has been upside down look at EG's predictions and they seemed pretty good at the time Phillies aren't doing so great, the Tigers aren't doing so great and the Angels aren't doing so great, so far at least. I'm an AL Central guy and if it keeps going the way it's going it could be a very interesting season.
Wow, a 7 game lead for Texas over Los Angelos, the favorites to win the al west. The Orioles are looking to widen that margin a little.
Hey Dave, Your O's are off to a good start with a win over the Twins today. Arrieta pitched 7 innings of 2-hit ball before the bullpen appeared a bit shaky. And to top the day off I was very glad to see the Rays score 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th (off Mariano Rivera 0-1) to beat the Yankees...Always happy to see the mighty Yankees go down.
The Oakland Athletics were charged 2 home games for the 2 games they played against Seattle last week in Tokyo Japan. I didn't like that...Anyway the A's and Mariners are both 1-1 coming into tonight's game in Oakland. The 2 teams will play again tomorrow before having Sunday off. Hoping for at least a split in this mini series...
opening day for the O's tomorrow. ecited to see some changes to the park on its 20 year anniversery. Jake arrieta considered the worst opening day starter by some experts. time to prove how good you are, now go get 'em.
Baseball season is back...
Hey Joey are you ready for another MLB season??? Good Luck to your Milwaukee Brewers.
Hey EG Good Luck to you Philadelphia Phillies...I just looked at your picks and I see you are picking my Oakland A's to finish in last place in the AL West, hopefully you are wrong about that. In the AL East I think Toronto and New York will both finish ahead of Boston and Tampa Bay and in the NL East I think that Washington and Miami will both finish ahead of Atlanta...
So this year's predictions...
NL East
1. Philadelphia
2. Atlanta
3. Washington
4. Miami
5. New York
NL West
1. Arizona
2. San Francisco
3. Los Angeles
4. Colorado
5. San Diego
NL Central
1. Milwaukee
2. St. Louis
3. Cincinnati
4. Pittsburgh
5. Chicago
6. Houston
AL East
1. Boston
2. Tampa Bay
3. New York
4. Toronto
5. Baltimore
AL West
1. Los Angeles
2. Texas
3. Seattle
4. Oakland
AL Central
1. Detroit
2. Chicago
3. Kansas City
4. Cleveland
5. Minnesota
Playoff seedings:
1. Arizona (No reason why, just my pick).
2. Philadelphia (Philly really needs to start signing younger players...)
3. Milwaukee (The Cardinals don't have Pujols so the Brewers will claim the NL Central)
4. Atlanta (Don't blow it this time)
5. St. Louis (No Pujols, but they will find their way in).
1. Boston (Don't blow it this time)
2. Los Angeles (They got Pujols)
3. Detroit (They got the league's best pitcher)
4. Texas (Texas gets competition in their division)
5. Tampa Bay (Yankees miss the playoffs this year)
Hello Richard, it's good to hear from you again, I hope all is well with you. My computer crashed right before the Super Bowl, four weeks, I figured and I happy to be online, yet I was disappointed that I missed out on the conversation with Bobby. I was really disappointed with the way the Pats played and I still can't believe that pass that Welker dropped. I guess it was the Giants year.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the Brewers do in the post-Fielder era. I think they're chances of repeating as NL Central champs are good, especially now that Braun won't have to serve his suspension. However, I do concede the Reds as the favorites. I think that the Cards losing Pujols, LaRussa & Dave Duncan are too many major losses. I'm sure the Card fans will disagree.
I'm a bit confused with the off-season moves the A's did. But. I don't believe they have the money to compete with Angels & Rangers. I'll have to go with Angels to win the AL West, the Tigers in the AL Central and the Rays in the AL East. I believe the the wild cards will be the Yankees & the Rangers.
In the NL, I'll go with the D-backs in the West, the Brewers in the Central, the Phillies in the East and the wild cards are the Reds & the Braves. I don't have a lot of confidence in Ozzie, he did fine in his early years with the Chisox, but I thought he lost his mojo the past 3 years. With all those changes, I think this year, the Marlins will have to work on becoming a team. But what the hell do I know.
Eric...I think the extra wildcard teams (one in each league) will benefit the teams with the higher payrolls (Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies ect.). I have a feeling my team (Athletics) will be TERRIBLE??? I think that the Nationals and Marlins will show considerable improvement in the NL East and challenge your Phillies...
Welcome back Joey, Your Computer must have been down for 3 or 4 weeks??? What do you expect from your Brewers this year???
Evolving from older bat and ball games, an early form of baseball was being played in England by the mid eighteenth century. This game was brought by immigrants to North America, where the modern version developed. Thanks.

Why did they add an extra wild card to each league? So stupid
It's good to see you Dave,. Overall, I agree with you.
2 wildcard teams = teams like blue jays now can make it in. it also would bring in more of the casual fans. overall a positive.
Hey guys, sorry I haven't been around but my computer crashed and I just fixed today. Richard, I'll check out ESPN MLB ranker. What do you guys think of two wildcard teams?
There is high expectations for the cardinals despite being without pujols, larussa and duncan. but what they do have is momentum, confidence and cohesiveness. the bullpen is much improved from last year, wainright back, beltran being back in the nl central, the young players like freese and craig getting more playing time, berkman and holliday fully healthy, furcal in a full season at ss is huge for a team that thrives on the ground ball dp. as for the Orioles, I just hope the dark cloud is lifted off this franchise and fanbase. as long as theyre in baltimore there is hope, ill take whatever i can get from them.
Dave...The A's definitely had nothing to lose in signing Manny Ramirez at just above the league minimum. After watching the first 50 games I would think that Manny will be primed and ready to prove that he has something left (and I think he will play well). A's Manager Bob Melvin will be managing his first full season in Oakland this year and I think will quickly turn things around. How about your teams the Oriole's and Cards what do you expect this coming season???
Richard what is your take on the manny ramirez? My assumption from an A's fan standpoint it would be a good signing. The A's are always in need of good offensive potential, it was a cheap signing, and if anything it grabs attention to a team that hasnt been in the spotlight for a while.
The A's traded away half of their pitching staff this off season (mainly Trevor Cahill and Gio Gonzalez) their 2 best starters. Gio Gonzalez signed with the Washington Nationals and I think along with Stephen Strasburg that Nationals pitching staff is going to compete with the Phillies in the NL East and I don't count out the Miami Marlins in that division...Oakland signed the much sought after Cuban player CF Yoenis Cespedes to a 4 year deal this morning. He could play in the infield as well but I look for him to push Co Co Crisp in CF...Btw...The A's are still trying to sign Manny Ramirez (who comes with a 50 game suspension)...
Joey...That ESPN MLB Ranker site has alot of Milwaukee Brewers fans...Baseball season is alot of fun. Hope to see you there...
Test......
I wanna hear O yelled during the national anthem of the home opener all the way here in st louis. Cmon O's fans, we all agree that management for our team is horrible, but lets outshine that and be the best fanbase in baseball support the team no matter what and our breakout year is bound to happen.(I'm starting early this year with my annual rally cry speech). O's!!!
Garret- It's kinda early to make picks. I was waiting till March to do that...
