New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi is apparently thinking of using a three-man pitching rotation during the American League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim that kicks off on Friday, according to the Journal News.
He mentioned this during a conference call with reporters yesterday and it would mean C.C. Sabathia(notes) would be carrying a heavy load. Sabathia would pitch Games 1, 4, and 7 (if necessary). He wouldn't get the rest he generally does before the Game 4 start but he would for the other two games.
He would be followed by A.J. Burnett(notes) and Andy Pettitte(notes). If Girardi does need a fourth starter because of bad weather or injury or any other reason, the general sentiment is that it will be Chad Gaudin(notes) and not Joba Chamberlain(notes).

hermanb, what's your point?? If the Angels have seen Pettitte (you can't even spell his name correctly) then the Yankees have seen Lackey, Kazmir, Saunders, Weaver, etc. So what, it proves nothing. Maybe for the play-offs, the Yankees should call up three or four pitchers from double A so that no one will have ever seen them before, thereby guaranteeing victory? Why is it that we do not see this happening? It never occured to you, did it?
Before posting your insignificant garbage, I suggest trying to jump-start some of your brain cells, as they appear to be all dead or dying.

Sounds like Girardi is over-reacting to the Angels, just because they swept Boston. Take a deep breath and blow out slowly Girardi.

I like the 3 man rotation, espacially the way the schedule is set, it allows us to load up the bullpen, CC will have to make 1 start with 3 days rest but we'll have plenty of arms in the pen if he starts showing any wear. Joe will just have to switch CC to game 2 of the WS, I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I don't see any team stopping the Yanks!! Too much talent, they're playing strong throughout the lineup and are really acting like a team for the first time in 10 years. Even Alex is tearing it up..
Sorry LAAAAAAAAA not happenin this year!
GO YANKS!!!!

Also, isn't this an outright admission that the Yankee starting pitching is thin? If the Angels had come out and said Lackey was pitching games 1, 4, and 7 that's exactly what all you Yankee fans would be saying about the Angels.
CC and Lackey are both 5-7 vs their opponents in their careers. Yet the Yankees are going to run CC out there 3 times. History says he will lose 1, or more likely 2 against the Angels. But since will be on 3 days rest and has a has a record of not performing wel on short rest, losing all 3 is not unfathomable.

# 23 Artist...I have a hard time playing nice. You must understand that as a female, that loves the game and is Yankees fan... I get crap flying at me left and right. Over the years, I've learned to cool it down. I just don't let ppl get in my face; I think they expect a female not to be able to fight back. : )
