MLB - Sports Rumors

“ChoneThe New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Cubs all need a leadoff hitter and it appears that Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim third baseman Chone Figgins(notes) is the guy that all three will be going after this off-season to fill the role, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Figgins, who will be a free agent at year's end, is loving his time in Anaheim, though, and the team will be able to negotiate with him exclusively for 15 days after the World Series ends.

Who wouldn't want a guy who has 104 runs, 89 walks, and 39 steals already this season as well as batting. 304 so far? Whoever does want him will likely have to pay more than $10 million annually, which would be a nice raise for the 31-year-old who is making $5.775 million this year.

Slight difference between runs batted in, and runs scored. Does yahoo not employee editors or fact checkers?

Good morning Artist, We all know its a typo, isn t it funny how everyone jumps on it. All it takes is one idiot at yahoo to bring out all the idiots here. The Yanks are looking like a runaway freight train about now. Remember last season when everyone was saying "The Rays are for real" They were playing over their heads last season. This is the true Ray team. Good but not leaders in the tough A.L. East. I had predicted 103 wins for the Yanks, and it looks doable. Jobba almost lived up to his new role as Stopper. He usually stos winning streaks. Jorge bailed him., this time Wonder what his role will be in the 1st round??

    Morning Artisto & Stewie,
I must say, with no slight meant to Figgins, this is the most ridiculous "rumor" I have read to date. I will cease any more writing about this. 50 games over .500??? Not out of the question.

Chone would lead off and play left. DJ is leading off cuz damon couldn't play every day and wasn't hitting well enough. as good ...er ...great as jeter is, you really want a guy who gets on alot and steals alot at the top. and with jeter hitting behind chone he'll get pitches to hit. you don't want chone on 1st and steal second and jeter to hit him in...or the hit and run..
but with that said...they ain't getting him this year so let's see if we can get back to and win the world series this year! wait til game 4 of the series to announce we're going after chone and are willing to give up joba! LOL!

The Sox have a leadoff hitter in Posednik. Hitting 307, 28 steals 360 obp
Why look elsewhere, they can sign him for alot less.
What the sox need is new leadership, the Oz/Kenny ashow is old.
