Twins signing Jason Marquis?

The Arizona Diamondbacks traded for starting pitcher Jason Marquis this summer in the hopes that he could help clinch a division title for the team. While the D-Backs did just that, Marquis wasn't much help. He only appeared in three games for Arizona before going down with a fractured right tibia.

Now the veteran appears to be headed to his seventh team. Fox Sports reports that Marquis and the Minnesota Twins are close to a deal. This will mark the first time that the 33-year-old Marquis will play in the American League.

Marquis has played for the Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals. Marquis, who was an All-Star in 2009, has gone 104-98 with a 4.55 ERA since his debut with Atlanta in 2000. In 2005, he won a Silver Slugger award with a .310 batting average, one homer and one triple. Last season, he went 8-6 with a 4.43 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 132 innings pitched.
