It's looking pretty good that the deep bruise in the left heel of Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer that's kept him out of the last two games is going to cause him to miss a few more, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
The team takes on the Detroit Tigers this week and it appears likely that Mauer will miss all three games.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire is saying that Mauer is more a week-to-week decision than day-to-day, but Gardenhire isn't planning to put the superstar on the disable list: "No not at all," he said. "It's a situation where if you try to get him out there too quick, then this thing will never heal. We just don't want that to be the case. You've got to give this a couple extra days here, so that's why we brought in another catcher." That catcher is Triple-A backstop Wilson Ramos.
Meanwhile, Mauer gets a pretty good view of the games from the bench.
