Miguel Tejada, acquired Wednesday from the Baltimore Orioles, will hit in the No. 3 hole, where the two-time Silver Slugger winner will give the Houston Astros the first of three consecutive sluggers who have established track records with abilities to drive in at least 100 runs per year.

The switch-hitting Lance Berkman will move from the No. 3 hole to the cleanup spot, and 2007 Astros MVP and two-time Silver Slugger winner Carlos Lee will move from cleanup to the No. 5 spot. Hunter Pence will hit sixth, followed by third baseman Ty Wigginton and rookie catcher J.R. Towles.

Wade informed former starting shortstop Adam Everett that, barring some unforeseen move, he will not be tendered a contract. Therefore, Everett will become a free agent. The Astros have tried to upgrade the starting rotation behind ace All-Star Roy Oswalt, but the pitching market is tremendously expensive.

As an O's fan I'm incredibly happy with the move as well. We need to rebuild and getting Sarfate is great because we need late Relief badly. Also Patton could be a potential #2 starter, and Albers a great 5th guy. I think Tejada will give you guys a great boost, especially in that lineup. Also his consecutive games streak is over, meaning he can rest and overall give you better production. Good Luck to you Stros' fans! I know it's been just as hard for you guys as it's been for us O's fans.

I agree, good move. I like Everette, but the man can't hit. Tejada is a down grade on defense. But get a pitcher!!!! We don't have a number 2 starter. Williams didn't do anything last year adn Backe is not the same. Get a number two pitcher then we can talk about a good off season.

i think wandy will step up and hopefully Jennings will be back...i cant remember if he is a free agent or what the case is...with those two stepping up we would be ok....jennings played through pain most of last year and wedidnt know it.so give him a chance if he is still with us and ready for the opportunity

Make sure you get Miggy some good undectable juice so he can start putting up the big numbers again, Astro fans. Good luck and good riddance that he's put of Baltimore.

What the hell!!!!! The Orioles are one of the worst organizations in baseball. Tejada for 4 losers, what the hell are they thinking. I hope the Astros threw in a dozen balls and some pine tar (its worth more then the four players combined). This is one of the worst trades ever.

We need relief pitching as well as starting pitching. Jennings cannot pitch in Minute Maid. Trade him while someone is still foolish enough to take him. We need a closer also..... Joe Nathan, anyone?

this is the 12th year for the 2 yr rebuilding program for the Os..
Astros have quite the lineup, the question is the pitching. Certainly there is plenty of offense that even the Astros can score some runs..still, they will compete with the Cubs & Cards

There is no such thing as a #2, so just stop it! We have what we have as far as pitchers.
    Bourn
    Matsui
    Pence
    Berkman
    Lee
    Tejada
    Wiggington
    Towles
    Oswalt, Sampson, Williams, Wandy, Backe
(Closer), Qualls, Borkowski, Geary, Villareal, Paulino
Jennings is a free agent #2 and we don't want to sign him for $400,000 much less 5 to 9 million.
Everett will now be a free agent and can sign with someone who will start him. He is gone.
Burke and our remaining pitchers and prospects are what we have left to bargain for a closer(he won't be much) My guess they try to ease Paulino into the closer role. This is our team. I am satisfied for now. Now rebuild that minor league system Wade it is a shambles!

this is a horrible trade for the astros. i can live with giving up luke scott with the depth we have as well as costanza at third. however, albers showed promise, troy patton looked capable of filling the #2 pitching spot by the end of the year and sarfate was wrecking in the bullpen last year. 8.1 innings, 14 k's and 1 walk, looks like the relief help we needed. this is a win now type of trade for a team that appeared on the verge of building for the future.

I love the way Hunter Pence plays the game, but if the Astros are going to win with this lineup, they'll need great SP, more than just Oswalt. They should package Pence to the Twins for Johan Santana. thoughts??

We would need to involve Lee Pence and three more players not BURKE for pete sake...santana is never going to happen...honestly this isnt fantasy baseball Wade is playing...i wish people would understand that. Im fairly confident that we may have a signing or one more trade but that is it if it even happens...Think we will start the season how we are and do something around the deadline and re asess or situation with pitching...

#21 John V... get your facts straight before you talk. Bedard turned down a $100 million contract offer. The O's aren't going to win anytime soon so it's good to tradeTejada especially for 4 prospects, one being a Relief Pitcher we need so badly. Also Angelos has turned all the GM work over to Mcphail. Thank god! If he allows Mcphail to do what he said he would let him do, the O's may actually be able to build a contender in the coming years.

Please...Lee, Pence and 3+ players for Santana? The Twins have payroll issues remember? They can't afford Santana, much less Lee. Burke is underrated as a 2B and they need position players. Pence is a stud OF they can squeeze around D Young, J Morneau, J Mauer, and M Cuddyer. Yeah, the Astros would need to add some other players, probably young pitchers, knowing the Twins. However, not anyone that is going to cost the Twins in added payroll, that is for sure, not fantasy.
