MLB - Scoop Du Jour

Back in September, San Francisco Giants second baseman Freddy Sanchez(notes) had surgery on his left knee and he was fully expected to be back and ready for Opening Day. Now it comes out that Sanchez had a second secret surgery four weeks ago on his shoulder that will have him possibly missing the first few weeks of the season, according to CSNBayArea.com.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy told a San Francisco radio station last night that "it'll be close" whether Sanchez can be ready for the season opener or not, according to the Associated Press.

It's looking Juan Uribe(notes) will be the starting second baseman for the Giants once the season gets started.
