Minnesota Twins left-hander Johan Santana may end up with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2008.

FoxSports.com cited sources close to the team and claimed Los Angeles is considering an offer that would send lefty pitching prospect Clayton Kershaw and young outfielder Matt Kemp to Minnesota. Kemp would replace Torii Hunter in centerfield. Kershaw, who might be the top prospect in all of baseball, would step into the rotation for Santana.

Twins need help, trading Santana required since he's already said he's not re-signing. Trading during off-season always better than in July. BB doesn't allow use of draft picks in trades--only players. I don't know either of these guys, but top CF a must given Twins' philsophy of pitching and inexpensive, quality SPs always in demand.

I don't see Johan pitching for anyone else than the twins in 08, at least until the trade deadline.

wow... i would want a lot more prospects than that for Johan Santana. If the Dodgers can pull off this trade, with giving up only 2 prospects, GOOD FOR THEM!!!

Do you know how dominating of a pitching staff the dodgers would have santana penny schmidt and wolf wow. Pull the trigger do the deal now. Go dodgers. Dont forget though we need some much needed offense as well, but I will take johan santana. I hope as a lifelong dodger fan who hasnt seen the promise land since 1988 that we get santana.

We need more for a 2 time (should be 3) Cy Young winner. We need a starting 3rd baseman and RF for him at a minimum.

I don't want him to go, but MN can't afford what he should demand. We need to trade him while his stock is the highest and fill in as many wholes as we can. Plus, they will all be pretty inexpensive and young. Come on Smith, show us you learned something from Ryan! Go Twins GO!

for the time left on his contract that seems a little light. If the twins were smart they would go for more like including Andy LaRoche in there or something. You're trading the best pitcher around at least get a lot for him.

Might make sense although it would hurt 2008 chances big time.If Liriano comes back and does well along with some offseason hitters Twins would be in position to contend again in 2008.Such a shame that its a small market franchise.Constantly having to guess/depend on youngsters to field a winning team.

I suppose it's possible that Johan is unhappy with the short term future of the Twins. Let's face it, the last thing Santana would want is to be a Kevin Garnett and give the best years of your life to an organization thats will to win is limited to starting rookies and cheap veterans. I like Johan, he's the best LH Starter in Baseball, I wish the Twins would have spent some money and obtained a supporting cast of characters for this weak offensive lineup. If Johan leaves, I'll certainly miss him but not blame him.

Works for me. Kemp is already acting like a selfish, non-team player. He's only going to get worse as he gets older. We need the pitching and have good prospects for everyday players. Make the deal.

NO WAY would I do this for only 2 prospects. If this were to happen you would need at least one more prospect and another major league ready player third base or left field.
