The 29-year-old Dan Uggla(notes) hit .243 with 31 homers and 90 RBIs for the Florida Marlins and it's looking like the San Francisco Giants wouldn't mind having some of those numbers in its lineup next season, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
The Giants have needed a big bat for a while and Uggla could help fill that need. There doesn't appear to be huge competition for him yet this off-season. So far, the only team seriously linked to Uggla, whose name supposedly means owl" in Swedish, is the Baltimore Orioles.
The Mercury News also has it that Uggla wouldn't mind moving to San Francisco.
The Giants are also supposedly considering first baseman Nick Johnson(notes), third baseman Adrian Beltre(notes), second baseman Orlando Hudson(notes), and Mark DeRosa(notes)
