MLB - Scoop Du Jour

After the trade deadline passed last Saturday without anyone making a deal for Kansas City Royals outfielder Jose Guillen(notes), he went 19 at-bats without a hit and the team designated him for assignment.

Now the San Jose Mercury News is reporting that the San Francisco Giants are "discussing" whether or not to make a move for the 34-year-old Guillen.

However, Sports Illustrated found an anonymous executive who does Guillen no favors. SI's Jon Heyman Tweeted that "no contender" should take Guillen because "personality/clubhouse rep may be 2nd worst to milton bradley."

Guillen is still owed close to $4 million before the season ends. He's hitting .255 with 16 homers.
