As if watching the Philadelphia Phillies win the World Series wasn't enough incentive for the New YorkMets, listening to Jimmy Rollins take a jab at them during Saturday's parade in Philly should be.

Rollins brought up Mets ace Johan Santana to boos, before declaring, "It takes more than one player to bring home a championship," to the massive crowd's delight.

"When you're the champions and win like that, you have every right to be confident," Wright said. "You can say what you like. You've earned that right. That's not necessarily my style or a style we would go with, but again, they've earned that right."

The Mets have suffered huge breakdowns the past two Septembers to miss the playoffs, while the Phillies have won the NL East each time.

Last year, they wasted a seven-game lead in the NL East with 17 to play in a collapse of historic proportions. This past season, the Mets led the NL East by 3-1/2 games as late as Sept. 10.

"In 2007, we gave it away," Wright said. "(In 2008), we couldn't get the job done. You've got to take advantage of opportunities. It's a tough way to learn a lesson. Both are somewhat missed opportunities."

No class, typical Phillies. They are celebrating and still have the Mets on their mind.

Philly had a great season???? They don't make the playoffs unless the Mets choke. Rollins enjoy it, it will be another quarter century before you see another

    No !@#$, Sherlock.
On the first game these two teams play, I would love to see the Met pitcher throw over the head of Rollins. I'd also like to see them brush back Chase Utley because the umpires still haven't done anything about him keeping his elbow in the strikezone.

I'm a Mets fan. It is what it is. It's Phillys time to talk smack. I would fo it. The 1986 Mets did it. So hats off. Untill we win the big one we need to take it. But we can still go back and forth and show some class on both ends here. 5 long months untill spring training

The Mets fans are still crying. The Phillies are the champions and did it as a TEAM. Maybe the Mets can bring it next year, but until then we are the best.

Yes, the Phillies DID have a great season...they didn't need the Mets to choke. It's called chemistry. Something all the money in the world cannot buy. The Mets and Yankees have yet to figure it out. You can have a billion dollar payroll and all the A-rods and Santanas you want but when it comes down to it - it all has to gel. If the Mets didn't learn from the 2007 debacle, which obviously they didn't, they never will. And I do hope Santana throws over Rollins' head or brushes back Utley. Then, we finally have a reason to have Brett Myers put one in Reyes' face.

So funny how NY fans are complaining about this like the Strahan didn't do that whole "stomped you out" thing about the patriots when they won. The winners get the gloat and rub it in on people they don't like i.e. the new york mets and their fans.
NY fans say philly fans have no class but there wasn't any rioting among the 2-3 million people that celebrated in that parade the other day. You think there would have been no problems in a parade of 3 million in ny? That's a laugher.
Winners get to gloat. Get into the post-season mets, and then talk. Also, I don't care that Rollins said that thing about frontrunners. Read the whole quote. That's not really what he meant. We won and none of this negativity in the media can take that away.

Rollins needs to go?!?! You're an idiot that needs to have their Philadelphia Phillies fan rights revoked for even making a comment like that.

I can't take anything J Roll says too seriously. I mean this is the same guy who bashed his own fans so of course he is going to talk trash about the Mets. This guy is the most arrogant player in baseball hands down. I can't believe Philly fans still like him, he called them front runners, thats far from the truth. Philly fans have stuck by that team through many losing seasons. Even if J Roll shut his mouth, he would still talk trash through that garage door sized gap between his teefers.

trickydick - good point but Santana isn't the only guy standing on the field. True its mostly the same guys that choked the season away in 2007, but they are also the same guys who ran away with it in 2006. Mets + Decent Bullpen = NL East Champs.
