Center fielder Grady Sizemore(notes) became a free agent at October's end when the Cleveland Indians declined his $9 million option for 2012. Now the Boston Herald reports that the Boston Red Sox have made contact with Sizemore, who hit .224 with 10 homers and 21 doubles in 71 games this past season after returning from 2010 microfracture surgery on his left knee.

The 29-year-old three-time All-Star has spent his career in Cleveland, entering the league in 2004 and having his best season in 2008 when he hammered 33 homers and 39 doubles while stealing 38 bases and maintaining a .268 average.
