Long-time Red Sox traveling secretary Jack McCormick said he bears no ill will toward outfielder Manny Ramirez in the wake of an incident Saturday afternoon in Houston in which Ramirez shoved McCormick to the clubhouse floor over a dispute involving tickets for that night's game.

"I just want it to die,'' McCormick said this morning. "It's over. He apologized. That's it. I want us to get back to our winning ways.''

The incident came to light in a report in the Providence Journal. It took place around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, long before the clubhouse was opened to media. McCormick said he doesn't recall the precise number of tickets Ramirez had requested for that night's game — "it was over tickets and stuff" -- but said the player became upset when McCormick indicated he might not be able to fill his request.

"It escalated on his part,'' McCormick said. "He said something about me not doing my job. But it was over in a couple of seconds.''

Manager Terry Francona did not witness the confrontation first-hand, but came out when he heard the commotion, McCormick said. Ramirez and McCormick later met behind closed doors and Ramirez apologized to McCormick, who also spoke with GM Theo Epstein about the incident. "There's no animosity on my part,'' said McCormick, who is in his early 60s. "I hope there's not on his. I think he feels the same way.

"I'm satisfied with how the club handled this. Everything's fine.''

Ramirez told the Journal yesterday, "That's over. We're fine now.''

Nine of your last 20 posts have been about the New York teams.
Does anyone care about the rest of the league? Jeez, you guys could at least throw the rest of the country a bone once in a while.

no doubt, #2. espn is even worse--why do we see so much more coverage of teams in the northeast versus the best team in baseball right now, the rays? east coast bias is so evident now that i life on the "other side of the country."

Wow, I didn't realize the man was in his 60s. That really does change things a bit, to knowingly push down an old gent is more than a bit problemmatic.
Personally, I've always been amused and entertained by his antics, but a professional cannot go around acting like that.

I'd like to see him try and throw someone down like Randy Johnson or John Kruk but of course he has to pick on someone twice his age.

    Hey #2 - Boston isn't New York.
Hey #4 - Tampa is about 60 miles from the East Coast.

I'm waiting to see if anyone from Red Sox nation is going to try to defend this action.
I'll posit this to you: this is indefensible. For a man making over 17 M a year to throw a 60+ man to the ground instead of just taking care of this himself, well, it seems like a poor choice.

East coast baseball is what sells... Yanks and Red Sox make up for 68% of total baseball revenue, at least that was the figure a year and a half ago. Espn and all media reports on what sells. It is unfortunate that there isn't more press on the other teams, because I would like to see more of what is out there. I am a life long Yankee fan and I get enough press watching the games everyday.

Just a case of Manny being Ozzie. Guess he was trying to one up Pedro by attacking an elder. Now I know why The Indians hired a psychologist just to work with Manny. And, Boston didn't get that memo?
