His agent, Dan Lozano, has said that he doesn't want to negotiate at all after spring training gets started, which is only about three weeks away. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that talks have "yet to reach a higher gear."
The paper also points out that club chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. recently said that "the club was willing to wait until after the season, if necessary, to retain its signature player."
A source to the Dispatch reports that Lozano "proposed a 10-year, $300 million framework" last summer.
