MLB - Scoop Du Jour

Philadelphia Phillies closer Brad Lidge(notes) has been to the All-Star game twice in his career, but this season he'll be looking forward to the mid-season break for quite a different reason. reports that Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said that Lidge, who is on the disabled list due to a rotator-cuff tear, will be "out until around the All-Star break."

Lidge said he's in agreement on the timetable. "When I first got hurt, there was this three-to-six week talk before playing catch or throwing a ball," he said, according to the site. "If nothing serious happens, and I'm hopeful it won't, I can see myself being back by the All-Star break. I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be doing and I remain optimistic about this timetable."

So far, the Phillies are doing just fine without the 34-year-old Lidge, posting a 5-1 record to start the season.
