Baltimore Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts(notes) has been out of the lineup since May 16 with concussion-like symptoms after a headfirst slide and MLB.com has it that Roberts "is at least three weeks away from returning." O's president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said Tuesday that his time away could last "for even longer," according to the site.
MLB.com notes that Roberts visited Tuesday with a concussion specialist, Dr. Michael Collins, who told him to rest for two more weeks and then get a new evaluation. "He could come quickly after that or not," MacPhail said of Roberts. "They don't know."
Roberts only played 59 games last season due to a herniated disc in his lower back, batting .278 with 15 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. This season, he's batted .221 in 39 games with 19 RBIs and six stolen bases.
