The New York Yankees are apparently looking at plenty of other folks other than Johnny Damon(notes) to pick up the bat for them as designated hitter next season. And one of those folks is apparently former Yankee Nick Johnson(notes), according to the New York Post.
The word is that the two sides are discussing a one-year deal that would likely put an end to conversations with Johnny Damon's agent, the ever loveable Scott Boras, who wants three or four years for his client.
Boras and the Yanks seem stalemated but Johnson's agent, Rex Gary, seems happy that things are moving forward: "We have had dialogue," he said. "Something could happen to speed things up but it's hard to predict."
The Seattle Mariners are also supposedly after Johnson to play first base.
