Nationals starter Tim Redding is scheduled to have minor surgery on his left foot Friday. The procedure will repair damage to the bone in the joint at the base of the second toe. Redding is expected to fully recover by the beginning of Spring Training, according to Washington's PR staff. The surgery will be performed by Nationals medical director Dr. Wiemi Douoguih and foot and ankle specialist Dr. Lew Schon at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
In his seventh season in the Major Leagues, and second with the Nationals, Redding - who is arbitration eligible - made a career-high 33 starts, finishing 10-11 with a 4.95 ERA. But it was a tale of two halves for Washington's right-hander, who went 7-3 with a 3.85 ERA in the celebrated first half of the season, but stumbled to 3-8 with a 6.82 ERA after the All-Star break.
Starting pitching was definitely an issue for the Nats in 2008, with Washington's rotation ranking 13th in the National League in ERA at 4.97

On the heels of the Odalis Perez article no less.
Now I can stop losing sleep worrying about pitchers in the Nats rotation.
