Mike Rizzo had had a short, productive run as the interim GM for the Washington Nationals, but it appears to be ending soon, according to Yahoo! Sports. He's apparently about to be replaced by Jerry DiPoto, a Diamondbacks vice president who has been in charge of their scouting for four years.
In his brief time in the GM chair, Rizzo got to spend lots of time with loveable agent Scott Boras as the pair negotiates the largest rookie contract of all time with the signing of pitching phenom Stephen Strasburg(notes), who won't be coming to the majors till next year, according to USA Today. He also snagged Nyjer Morgan(notes) from the Pittsburgh Pirates and got to be the lucky one to fire manager Manny Acta.
DiPota also collected 49 saves over seven seasons when he pitched for the New York Mets, Colorado Rockies, and Cleveland Indians. Now let's see if he can save the Nationals.

by the way, i do feel sorry for the mets, as they are about to endure the same losing seasons streak as the nats/expos, as minaya always wants to win now at all costs - vs win now, while planning for the future. he'll probably re-up everyone's contract like delgado's when it's their time and they are 40. not the smartest move in building for the future.
