MLB - Sports Rumors

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard that the owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers are having some nasty marital troubles so there is a rumor floating around that the lovely couple, Frank and Jamie McCourt, could try to unload the team and that Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban would be the first in line to buy the team, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Cuban, who tried to buy the Chicago Cubs, tells the paper there is no substance to the story. And the Dodgers aren't even for sale.

According to the paper, "Cuban has said repeatedly in recent months that he has no interest in adding any sports franchises to his business portfolio." It would really have to be some kind of special situation for him to want the Dodgers as part of his portfolio: "I'm not a fan of debt-driven acquisitions. If a unique situation came up where I could contribute capital to buy out a majority shareholder and gain control, with existing shareholders or note holders staying in place, I would consider it," he wrote.

Cuban and Selig migt butt heads. They are different as night and day. He just wouldn't fit into the "Good Ole Boys Club"! I don't see other owners voting him in.

Not likely. The Dodgers have a tradition of Catholic owners and managers. Cuban is Jewish.

Fank and Jamie better seek an annullment, then, Ron. The Catholic Church doesn't recognize divorce.
The Dodger's greatest pitcher was Jewish. Sandy Koufax. I don't thing religion should make a difference in running a baseball team.

What the hell does team ownership have to do with religion? Who cares if they're catholic, jewish, hindu, or muslim as long as they run the team efficiently and try to win!

Rush Limbaugh should buy the Dodgers. Then maybe he could get Torre to manage the mound more conservatively.

I agree with scott's post.....Dodger tradition left with the O'Malleys.....i am not happy with all the mess going on at The Ravine...but we will see how this works out...Get rid of your Vieja Frank!!!!! I just hope the new owner, if it happens puts a winning product on the field....besides it can't get any worse than the Browns or the Raiders.

Doesn't Fox still hold a 9 figure note from McCourt from when he bought the Dodgers? Cuban could buy that from Fox and foreclose. Instant team!

The Dodgers ownership/investors should look across the city of Los Angeles and watch how Jerry Buss runs the Lakers..... L.A. is a Laker town and has been since Jerry Buss & Magic Johnson came in 1980!
No one runs a franchise better than the Buss family! 9 championships since 1980! No other major professional sports franchise has won that many since!! Name one!

For gawd sakes, please don't give the reins to Jamie McCourt. We all saw what happened to another L.A. franchise wshen a woman took over (see Los Angeles Rams).
And don't even get me started on Marge Schott of the Reds.
We need an owner that will actually invest REAL PASSION into our team. I want to see a world series with the Yankees and Dodgers one more time b4 I die.
Dang I wish I was rich.
P.S. WE NEED STARTING PITCHING !

The Dodgers always had a family environment. Not so now. I think Cuban could do that. I also think McCourt has done a good job putting a Championship team on the field. How long has he owned them now?
The O'Mallys knew how it was done. 2$ bleacher seats on sale the day of the game. All fans could go to a game.
Lose a few $$$ on bleacher seats make it up with Dodger Dogs. Best Dogs in the Majors
