There was a lot of talk in the second half of last season about the Mariners using young ace Felix Hernandez(notes) as a big trading chip this off-season to help the team build for the future.
But Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik is trying to head off at the pass the huge amount of speculation that will be heaped upon Hernandez this off-season by telling reporters Monday that the Mariners aren't planning to ditch Hernandez any time soon, according to the New York Daily News. The team has been following him since he was just a 14-year-old lad in Venezuela.
After all, who would give up a 23-year-old with a 100-mph fastball who had a 2.49 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP, and 19 wins this past season?

if they are still worried about paying off a stadium from 10 years ago then maybe felix might want to consider a place where they are not worried about paying for a stadium and worry about putting the best team on the field as possible...lmao...

I agree. Yahoo needs people to show hits or they all get fired. The real unemployment rate is 17.5%. We are fukked.

I actually foung myself watching replays of the Angels & WS games. The winter sucks.

The Winter sucks because both New york Football Teams look lost right now, Giants and Jets won't do anything if they made the playoffs anyways there offenses are terrible.
But at least you have a baseball title to be happy about for the Winter.
Just football lost causes with those teams.

The Red Sox have interst in Felix, the only question is rather or not they are willing to give in to the Mariners deamnds and pay some high end prospects to get them off the Mariners. I won't put this in the bag for the Red Sox on acquiring or trading for him because its not a given but they have the pieces to entice Seattle to trade him.
I feel they should go for it it would give them 3 Number 1 Aces in there rotation.

There is always hope though, you have to figure that the Colts and Pats will get the AFC Byes and the broncos and steelers win there divsion and hostfirst round playoff games, that means there is 2 spots left to make th playoffs, i think the Chargers get one of those spots and if the Bengals are for real get the other.
Still 8 games left for each team in the season but anything is possible.

I would say the Mariners should hold onto him he has a huge upside and will only contine to get better as we progress through the years.
it would be interesting to see how hard the Red Sox will go after him via a trade they can move some pieces in there farm who proably won't be starting for the Red Sox anytime soon.
Mabye the Red sox can get Felix like the way they got jason Bay trade a Craig Hanson and Brandon Moss type of players LOL
Just kidding the Mariners arn't as stupid as the Pirates Owenrship

3-6 is awful especially with the team i have in there there not great but i have some really good players yet not doing well.

How are ya? Don't forget the Sox also gave up Manny in that trade for Jason Bay. I am not sure who the Dodgers gave up. What should we expect from the Sox this winter? I suspect with Ortiz , Lowell, perhaps Varitek in the last year of their contracts ( and Lugo as well) they may not make alot of major changes until the 2011 season.I was susprised that they refused the option on Gonzalez. What are your thoughts?

Yea i try to forget Manny, The Dodgers gave up Andy Laroche as part of that deal to Pittsburgh and some other guy i have never heard of, proably won't make the big leagues but you never know with the Pirates they play alot of youngsters.
I still think the Red Sox will go with Jed Lowerie as there SS so they really had no use for Alex Gonzalez, the guy can't hit but i truly think the Red Sox still belive in Jed Lowerie that is why they delcined the option on Gonzalez.
That or they plan on brining in another SS but i highly doubt that there have been too many of them playing for Boston over the years no need for more new blood.
If the Red Sox don't have a successful year next year we might see some of those above players you mentioned not with the club any more.

Could you see in any possible way the Red Sox go after Joe Mauer? They signed Victor Martinez to an extension so you think there is no need for him but i beg to differ, because Martinez can DH or play First Base and if the Red Sox don't bring back Mike Lowell or David Ortiz then i feel there would be a interest in him.
Youk cpould easliy move over to 3rd Base if the Red Sox decided not t osign Lowell or Martinez or Mauer could DH if Ortiz wasn't resigned.
just throwing that out there whe nthat time comes

I am not convinced that Lowrie is the shortstop of the future for Boston, I guess he will now be given the chance. I always liked Gonzalez at short for his excellent glove. I just don't understand Epstein's logic. How do you think a bum like Julio Lugo is worth $36 mil over 4 years, but Alex Gonzalez isn't worth 1 year at $6 million? I also think Victor Martinez is likely to end up playing first base, as he is by no means a good defensive catcher. If the Twins are intent on trading Mauer, sure I would like to see the Red Sox get him. He would fill a huge hole for them, and Victor at 1st, Youk at 3rd would work fine.

Seattle's ballpark no longer new??!! It seems like yesterday that Griffrey Jr. and A Rod were bouncing balls off walls everywhere in the Kingdome!
Seattle spent a fortune on that beautiful "new" park with the roll away roof. It was expected that Griffrey and A Rod would draw the fans to pay it off in no time. They abandoned ship and I bet its been a struggle to pay for a winning team and pay off the stadium ever since!
