Jamie Moyer(notes) may be turning 49 years old this month and he may have missed the last season recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he hasn't retired and he's looking to make a comeback next season.
Fox Sports reports that the lefty has thrown for scouts twice recently and they are impressed. "Same as he's been for the past 15 years -- as incredible as that may sound," one veteran scout said, according to Fox. "He has a chance to pitch in the big leagues as a fifth starter and win 10 or 12 games. He's throwing 81 to 83 mph, but he still knows how to make you look like an idiot. He doesn't need the money. But I think he has that fire burning in his belly."
In 2010, Moyer went 9-9 in 19 starts with a 4.84 ERA for the Philadelphia Phillies. In his career, Moyer has gone 267-204 with a 4.24 ERA in 686 appearances.
