HIV-positive Alomar sued for having unprotected sex

Baseball great Roberto Alomar has full-blown AIDS but insisted on having unprotected sex, his ex-girlfriend charged Tuesday in a bombshell lawsuit, according to the New York Daily News.

The shocking claim was leveled by Ilya Dall, 31, who said she lived with the ex-Met for three years and watched in horror as his health worsened.

In papers filed in state and federal court, Dall said Alomar finally got tested in January 2006 while suffering from a cough, fatigue and shingles.

"The test results of him being HIV-positive was given to him and the plaintiff on or about Feb.6, 2006," the $15 million negligence suit says.

Nine days later, the couple went to see a disease specialist who discovered a mass in the retired second baseman's chest, the court papers say.

Alomar's skin had turned purple, he was foaming at the mouth and a spinal tap "showed he had full-blown AIDS," the suit says.

Alomar, 41, who quit baseball over health issues in 2005, could not be reached for comment.

His lawyer, Charles Bach, would not say whether Alomar is HIV-positive. "We believe this is a totally frivolous lawsuit. These allegations are baseless," Bach said. "He's healthy and would like to keep his health status private. We'll do our talking in court."

    Alomar has AIDS?
    Guess all those players on the Mets do those years too, but my guess is it was Piazza who gave it to Alomar

    I sure hope davfied comes to Alomar's rescue. Maybe he can blame the reporter who wrote the story. Or maybe it is the guy who did the HIV test. Oh - never mind - Alomar isn't a Yankee.

    why should we feel sorry for this scumbag? who cares what he did on the baseball field - that's totally irrelevant. if he did what his ex-wife said he did, then he probably deserves whatever's coming to him.

    Well it explains his sudden decline and retirement, but all you a$$holes on here raging on him for his help, he was one of the best 2nd basemen ever, and a sure fire HOF, you should show some compassion, then again most of you most be Yankees or Red Sox fans.

    Danielle V, i live and eat sports buddy...i bet you didnt know that Big Pappi was on winstrol and testosterone suspension during there world series win in 2004..his cycle also included hot dogs and hamburgers.

    This is just horrible. Absolutely. It's a sad state to see someone who was so gifted and considered by many to be one of, if not the best, 2nd basemen of his time. Certainly he's had some character issues - but AIDS is just a horrible punishment. I hope that the charges are false since it will be a final stamp on his life. People will forever remember him for being an *ss and forget he was a brilliant player.

    Well deez as alomar pretty much sucked the entire time he was a met (no pun intended) i'd bet he was infected prior to coming to NY which may explain the indians letting him go so cheap..as for Piazza he is no more gay then Jeter

    khj, HIV is mostly from sharing needles and gay sex. Straight people can catch it but it much less likely, especially for a man. According to Sanjay Gupta (CNN) I'd bet needles were to blame for Alomar, IF all this is true.

    Justin B is right though, Arthur Ashe contracted it from a blood transfusion so there are many ways to catch it, just some are less common I guess. Anyways I feel bad for Alomar regardless of what kind of person he was/is. What I don't get is Magic Johnson, either he is cured or he faked it-(google it) but who in their right mind would fake that? Some say Magic's illness is well managed but I don't buy it, he looks healthier now than before. Either alot of money can buy you a cure or he is just a rare case that is possibly immune to the disease.
