Gillick not headed back to Seattle

The speculation continues, but Pat Gillick reiterated yesterday that he isn't primed to return to the Seattle Mariners.

The Philadelphia Phillies' general manager dismissed a report Sunday that he could join a bid to buy the Mariners.

He said there is no truth to rumblings in the baseball community that he could leave the Phils to become Seattle's club president.

Go Back to Seattle and take all of your work you have done here with you - Garcia, Helms, Eaton, Werth, and Barajas. I'll tell you what you can take Burrell too as a going away present. Good Riddens!

Have any of the Phillies "fair weather friends" noticed that there are only 6 National League teams with a better record than the Phillies, and a couple of them less than two games ahead of them? They are quietly starting to put their act together, and some folks don't even give them credit for that! When the pitchers get back from the DL (Gordon, Myers) it will only make them stronger. The next month will tell whether the Phillies are going to be in the race till October. Could be better, but it is heading in the right direction.

Gillick and the Phillies are dumb....overpaid for adam eaton, the team isn't good enough to make the playoffs, and they have nothing coming up in the farm system.

no need for Gillick back in SEA. What's he going to do? Sign Cirillo or Spezio again? Bavasi blows, but he has done a lot more to turn the team around than the mess that Gillick made and maintained. Stay in Philly, we don't need ya.

Weaver is a tool....without a doubt the worst free agent signing in baseball this year .....based on his performance so far....unless you like guys that get rocked every inning pitched...and that is no being dramatic....I doubt he ahs pitched a scoreless inning yet this season.

Gillick is not the answer.....Bavasi has actually done OK this year minus the Jeff Weaver deal and trading Soriano to the braves....that had to be a conspiracy.

M's have won 12 of the last 17 games......playing pretty well as a team right now....need 1 or 2 solid pitchers(starters) and this team could seriously challenge in the West with the bats going the way they have been...

Yankees will get Gillick and fire Cashman. George will get the best man for the job. George won`t be around running things and he can`t let Cashman run things, look what he`s done to the Bombers. The offense has crapped out. How has Cashman improved the Stripes?

False advertising! What has Gillick done really? He's brought no real players to town, he makes excuses for players poor performance, and he has no real answers. Come to think of it, he's a typical Phillie front office guy after all. It shouldn't have been too hard to make us forget Ed Wade, but Gillick is just more of the same. The Phillies organization is like professional quicksand; you enter it thinking it won't swallow you up, and then you realize that no matter how hard you try, your doomed. Good luck and good riddence.
