Former Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez could be filling some very big shoes next season. AOL Fanhouse reports that he appears to be the frontrunner to take over the managerial position for the Atlanta Braves when Bobby Cox retires at season's end.
Gonzalez, who lives in Atlanta in the offseason, added fuel to the rumor-mill fire by turning down a request from the Chicago Cubs for an interview about their managerial job, the site reports.
Chicago Cubs general manager Jim Hendry, who has a long relationship with Gonzalez, is seeking a manager with big league experience, according to Fanhouse.
