San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson(notes) blew a save Monday night and "felt something" in his elbow on one of his 28 pitches, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. So he flew to Florida on Wednesday to visit Dr. James Andrews, who had operated on Wilson when he was in college.
The Chronicle reports that Andrews gave Wilson good news. "It showed just a little inflammation," manager Bruce Bochy said, the paper reports. "We're going to give him two or three days off. It didn't show any [further] issue with the elbow, so it's good news for us."
Wilson is 6-4 this year with 35 saves and a 3.19 ERA. He now has five blown saves, which is as many as he had in all of 2010 when he amassed 48 saves and a 1.81 ERA.
