Arizona Diamondbacks general manager Jerry Dipoto is ready to make a deal before the July 31 trading deadline, but the last-place team in the National League West doesn't appear to believe it needs to make wholesale changes, according to MLB.com.
"It's been a canvassing, finding out where other teams are at," Dipoto told the site. "Obviously, we've exchanged a lot of rhetoric. I don't think anybody is really in a deal-making mode yet. We've been very open in discussing with teams what we'd be interested in doing.
"I guarantee you it will change. You'll see action as it gets down to [the deadline]."
The Arizona player that will likely garner the most interest is hurler Dan Haren(notes), who is signed throughout 2012, but the D-backs would need to get "an awful lot in return," so a deal involving him is unlikely, MLB.com reports.
