The Chicago Cubs are 7 1/2 games back in the National League Central and if they don't start winning soon, the trade talks will begin, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The North Siders have lost eight of their last 12 against teams that aren't doing great themselves: the Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox.
The Tribune sources said the Cubs haven't talked to any teams about making trades yet but will begin the process if the losing goes on for the next two or three weeks.
On the list for potential trades are Derrek Lee(notes), Ted Lilly(notes), Kosuke Fukudome(notes), Tom Gorzelanny(notes) and Xavier Nady(notes). Lee and Fukudome have no-trade clauses; the team has not asked them to waive the clauses yet, the Trib reported.
