MLB - Sports Rumors

Twenty-one years later, they meet again. The Boston Celtics nodded in destiny's direction a day after the Lakers did, bringing together two of the most relevant sports franchises for the NBA Finals.

Somewhere, David Stern is smiling, along with Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, James Worthy and Kevin McHale. Celtics-Lakers, play it again, for an 11th time in Finals history, as Phil Jackson tries to pass Red Auerbach by winning a record-setting 10th NBA championship as a coach.

It will be symmetrical, with each team trying to make sure its Big Three win a Big Four (games) before the other does. It will be physical, judging by the bludgeoning the Lakers bore in two regular-season losses to the Celtics.

And it will be emotional.

Why is the league still having the 2-3-2 playoff format? This clearly gives an unfair advantage to the home team. Should be 2-2-1-1-1 format to be fair about it.

Kobe will put at least two over the monster in the series, but the weather at Fenway will give the Celtics the edge in seven.

The reason the format is 2-3-2 is because of the Lakers/Celtics finals back in the 80's. Traveling from one ocean to the other brought the change. In this day in age with gas being the way it is, maybe the NBA and NHL should do two game series instead of one game here and then the next time the teams meet it is three months later.

Lakers in 6...format favors the celts (weak conference should not get the home court advantage-flawed system). Despite these advantages for Boston the Lakers should still win in 6.

One more comment...The eastern conference playoffs were boring, since they don't have the teams and players. Even Labron highlighted how far he is still away from Kobe and MJ.
