The St. Louis Cardinals, five games back in both the National League Central and wild-card race, shipped outfielder Colby Rasmus(notes) to the Toronto Blue Jays on July 27, just before the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline, in order to snag some starting-rotation help in the form of 29-year-old Edwin Jackson(notes), who pitched a no-hitter last July. Jackson had been a member of the Jays for about two hours after arriving there in a trade with the Chicago White Sox.
After four starts for the Cards, it's looking like he's not going to be much help in the short term. According to the Associated Press, Jackson had to leave his start in the sixth inning Sunday against the Colorado Rockies with an "apparent right hamstring injury."
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch called it "a severe right hamstring cramp."
