C.C. Sabathia has not yet filed for free agency yet and has until Nov. 13 to take care of what basically is a paperwork formality for him. The Milwaukee Brewers have an exclusive negotiating window with him until Nov.14, when Sabathia can begin to talk contract terms with other teams.
Milwaukee seems eager to try to take advantage of its window - the AP quoted Brewers GM Doug Melvin Friday as saying, "We're prepared to do something with him here very shortly. He'll probably be getting ready to file for free agency but I don't expect an answer real soon.
"He's not going to be a guy who is going to have 27 phone calls. He's only going to get five," Melvin added. "If he's going to demand the money he's going to demand, he'll get a lot less phone calls than maybe even Ray Durham or somebody like that that we have."

Just like the when the small market Brewers shocked the world by making the best mid-season pick up of CC in major league history, CC should do the same and stay with the team that needs and wants him the most. SHOCK THE WORLD CC, PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!
But being a realist, what are the chances of him staying? I say slim to none unfortunately.

C.C. has proven himself, not only as a starter but a team player.
I believe the Cards are watching.

CC said of criticisms such as yours (that the Brewers were using him up before he left) that he'd pitch like that even if he were under contract.
CC aslos said after the Brewers were eliminated in the playoffs that he wouldn't be telling the truth if he didn't say that this year was one of the best times he's ever had, both professionally and personally.
I don't believe that CC would leave Milwaukee for any other reason than the fact that the Brewers can't afford him. He's a true class act and competitor who seemed to really appreciate the team and the great Milwaukke fans -- and I will be a CC fan wherever he plays (and hopefully still as a Brewer, though unlikely).

and #3. you say that the brewers shocked the world by making the best mid-season pickup in world history, thats funny. did you hear that at your local sports radio or tv show. i bet they were saying the same thing in la with manny. actually sebathia wasnt even the best trade that year. it was manny. but just to let you know the best mid-season pickup ever was a guy named babe ruth and he went from the bosox to the yanks and yes in mid-season...

The Midwest, specifically Milwaukee would be a day in the park, compared to that. We are much more forgiving and tolerant then either coast. I would hope that CC & his agent are factoring that into their decision.

Of course we are. That is what happens when you expect to be in the hunt every year. JD & I were both disappointed this season but we were both entertained and supported the team throughout the season. The injuries to Wang & Posada were crushing. If not for that I believe they would have won the division. Now, it is reload time. No surfing today? Are you having a monsoon?

I thought I had done some silly things when I was younger. I never tried surfing. It wasn't that popular on the other coast. I was after women anyway.
