Baltimore Orioles first baseman-designated hitter Aubrey Huff is scheduled to undergo sports hernia surgery Friday that will prevent him from participating in baseball-related activities for six weeks, a club spokesman told the Baltimore Sun.

Huff should be ready about the time the Orioles' position players have their first spring training workout Feb. 19 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Club officials said they knew that Huff had felt discomfort in his groin during offseason workouts but hoped he would be able to avoid the surgery, which will be performed by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia. Huff could miss a few days of camp.

Didn't Roger Clemens also suffer a "sports hernia?"......Perhaps it was trying to lift that huge shovel of B.S. he is trying to shove down our throats....OR trying to carry that $28 million he stole from the Yankees last season....OR did he suffer the injury while trying to hide vials of HGH or 'roids in his car?

He better have that surgery today if he plans on being back by Feb 19. Hernia surgeries are not something your recover from quickly.

I had hernia surgery last week, and even though I am only a teacher, I am out for two weeks. Can't lift anything over 10 pounds (doctor's orders). Kind of painful, but I was home the same day. I wish Mr. Huff well and hope he has a good first half of the season.

Huff is a second half player. So don't expect much of him in the first half anyway. Good luck Aubrey.
