MLB - Sports Rumors

“RoyEverybody wants Toronto Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay(notes) on their roster but the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim appears to be one of the few teams who is trying to do something about that, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Anaheim tried to snag Halladay this summer and probably tied the Philadelphia Phillies for being the closest to getting a deal done. But former J.P. Ricciardi drove too hard a bargain for both of those teams and so they went without and did pretty well anyway.

The word is that Anaheim will need to give up a slew of prospects along with one of three pitchers -- Jered Weaver(notes), Ervin Santana(notes), or Joe Saunders(notes) - to get the Blue Jays to open that little window for the Angels to negotiate an extension with the 32-year-old Halladay and finish off the trade.

Halladay has supposedly informed the Blue Jays that he isn't going to re-sign after next season.

How can you call Halladay greedy??? You can't honestly believe his departure from the Bluejays has anything to do with money. For most people in sports, the reason to play is to win and the Bluejays are not able to give him the opportunity to win. He deserves at a shot at the championship and I hope he gets one before his career is over.

Hell yeah Angels are gonna need another ace pitcher if they lose Lackey and all signs are pointing that they are. Kazmir was an okay pick up, but they overpaid him and I doubt be anything more then a .500 Pitcher. Lets go Halos !! Resign Vladdy, get Halladay and I don't think the sox or yankees have a chance!

Vernon Wells should be included in the trade. Its the only way Vernon with his bloated salary can be moved. The Anaheim Angels of LA could use a good outfielded to replace Guerrero, if he's not resigned.

Artist!! Hi there. I see your team went on a bit of a tear this weekend. Nice. So did mine. Just in the opposite direction. Kinda like the KNicks, shooting at the wrong basket. Oh well
I think its gonna be tough for any team to come up with the type of deal Tor is looking for

    christine,
What do you think about Mauer beating out Teixeira and Jeter for MVP?!!
Mauer seems to have a lot of class and level headedness to go along with his baseball skills.

At least the Cowboys won Pancho - It was a boring game though to watch. I almost fell asleep. I hope Thursday is more entertaining. They better blow out Oakland....and Roy Williams was the biggest mistake in Cowboy history. i have never seen someone do a better job at vanishing during a game like he did...not even David Copperfield could pull off that disappearing act.

Artist....yeah yeah....sugarcoat it now with talk of "at "least" my Cowboys won, lol. Good one! Oakland is great medicine for anyone struggling. Dallas D is on point right now and will be too much for Oakland. Roy Williams is a fuggin joke that guy! he drops more passes than T.O. and looks totally lost out there. They gotta get him outta there. Give Austin, Crayton more looks. Get the TE's more invloved. WTf happened to Witten? Oh well.. 7-3 still in first. I will take that. Thrusday is doomsday for the Faders!
Deifvad...just don't squeeze the baster please! ewwwwwww that would be ugly.

Halladay is a great pitcher but how does that help the Angels? The Angels have not even signed Lackey and the fact that the Jays are going to want one if not two of the young Angel arms. This sounds like a trade in futility and not whats in the best interest of the Angels.

Jacks...yeah I rememer the rat infestation a couple years ago at Angel Stadium. Did they ever get rid of the problem? If not they should have Dummyfied go in there playing role of the Pied Piper with his kazoo and follow him back to Fresno.
Scott.....I have seen you letting a little steam out of late regarding "some" Yankme fans. i didn't know you had it in you to be so riled up. You go Holmes! Do ur thing. How you like this weather today? Uhhh about 77 today for all you East Coasters freezing ur asses off. I am in shorts and a T-shirt once again. We are thinking of doing Thanksgiving Dinner outside in the patio this year. High of 78 on T-Day. Hey Scott....ever run into any of Mickey's friends at Angel Stadium? you know.....Freeway Freddy.

    Hey! scott
Thought Wells might fit in with Angels. You're right. Outfield looks set with Abreu in right.
I see Oakland has signed your ex-third sacker McPhereson! Hope he turns out as well as Adam Kennedy did for us last season! McPhereson led the minors with 42 HRs in 2008 before his back went bad. Wallace will need another year of seasoning in the minors before he is ready to replace Chavez at third. Maybe, Oakland wants to check both out at third and see what develops. Interesting!

    scott,
The Angels outfield looks set with Torii Hunter, Rivera and Abreu. Why are they seeking Granderson from Detroit? Maybe Abreu might be used as DH with Matthews Jr.?
