Angels interested in Giambi

MLB isn't the only outfit interested in the New York Yankees' Jason Giambi.

According to a person with knowledge of the Los Angeles Angels' thinking, the AL West leaders have an interest in acquiring the Yankees' DH to bolster a lineup that is last in the league in home runs.

The Angels' interest in Giambi, who was in a 1-for-26 slump and batting .268 going into last night's game, was before the recent controversy surfaced.

This is a non-rumor. Angels do everything to avoid controversy. They're not gonna jump into a steroid mess by signing this overpaid, past-his-prime juiced up bum.

Giambi plays more like his brother now that he is off the juice. Why pay 20 mil. for a guy that can't field or hit. He can only connect every so often and hit a homer over the short left field fence in the bronx... he admitted to taking steroids basically and he should be cut and the Yankees should not have to pay him another dime. Angels please go get someone else not this guy

"According to a person with knowledge of the Los Angeles Angels' thinking".
Say what??? Typical of Yahoo, that statement is silly. Who said this? The Los Angeles Angels are not one person...What the hell does this mean? Someone knows what the entire organization is thinking?

i doubt they would want him and if they did the yanks would have to foot a large portion of the contract. i think the yanks are gonna keep him. he is clutch in big games. and i think his contract expires after next season???

I like Giambi and I think he really wants to be a Yankee. But as a Yankee fan I would say now is the time to part ways with him.

Being a Yankees fan I would love for them to get rid of that disgrace of a 'roid freak, he is a blemish on Yankee tradition! what ever team is foolish enough to take him, you can have him. He never has or never will fit in with a professional team like the Yankees, and is another example of a george steinbrenners ego getting the best of his wallet and senses.

Giambi to the Angels makes sense. What team wouldnt want an overpaid, over the hill, steroid junkie who is hitting .250 and facing possible suspension for adimitting to take steroids. Maybe the angels can take Abreu and any other bum the the Yankees are overpaying.

Todd Helton would be great in an Angels jersey. Although his full power isn't there anymore that type of consistency and "potential" power in the lineup would clinch a playoff spot for LAA for sure.

Yankees and Red Sox are ruining baseball. The Sox have decent fans but the Yankee fans don't know crap about baseball. They boo a guy that gets 25 mill a year and hits 40 HRs a year and knocks in 150. So what if he makes $25 Million a year? You guys traded for him. You pay Jeter 20 million a year. Why not boo him? You guys don't deserve half your players.
