MIAMI (AP)—Javier Vazquez(notes) pitched seven strong innings, Jose Lopez(notes) homered
and the Florida Marlins had 15 hits in a 9-3 victory over the New York Mets on
Emilio Bonifacio(notes) and Gaby Sanchez(notes) both had three hits and two RBIs and Lopez
and Logan Morrison(notes) also had three hits to help the Marlins win three straight
for the first time since July 31-Aug. 2.
Vazquez (9-11) gave up one run and six hits while striking out seven and
Chris Capuano(notes) (10-12) allowed six runs and eight hits in four innings, his
shortest of 27 starts this year. He walked one, struck out three and threw a
wild pitch that scored a run.
Jason Bay(notes) hit his 11th homer, a two-run shot off Chris Hatcher(notes) in the ninth,
for the mets.
