CHICAGO (AP)—Melky Cabrera(notes) became the first Yankee in 14 years to hit for the cycle, leading New York to an 8-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon.

Cabrera hit a three-run homer in the second to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead, doubled in the fourth and chased Mark Buehrle(notes) (11-5) with an RBI single in the fifth. He then tripled to right leading off the ninth against Scott Linebrink(notes), drawing a loud roar from a crowd that had showered Buehrle with cheers before his first start at home since his perfect game.

This time, the fans saw something rare happen at the plate.

Cabrera’s cycle was the 15th time a Yankees player has accomplished the feat. The cycle was the first by a Yankee since Tony Fernandez did it against Oakland on Sept. 3, 1995, and the second by a White Sox opponent in as many seasons. Minnesota’s Carlos Gomez(notes) did it against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field on May 7, 2008.

Post # 238 boston garden, The biggest problem I'm having is with my sleep cycle, I have none. I'm llike a F%^&*$g vampire. I sleep 3 hrs a day at the most. Although I missed getting any fantasy baseball teams, I have about 30 football teams, everyone one of them I have Brandon Jacobs. I plan on attending the Boston series, and I'm flying to Oakland and Boston later this month, i go for free so why not.

Post # 233 boston garden. Sadly I have had to skip a few series. if you read some posts of mine you would know, I was in the Persian Gulf /Iraq and Afghanistan since 2005. Fortunately I get all the games via my computer, and on occasion they are on TV. This has been my first year back.I spent 35 years in the military. I probably have more games on tape, than the Yankee library. I missed a lot of good times at Yankee stadium. I came home when I could and always went to a home game when I was there. This is my first year back home.

You know Beaver killer, I'll would bet that you aren't married, or are divorced. Hate men because they have been the reason your all alone and haven't had a real date in years. If you were to find a "mate" you would be the butch. You're over weight, and kids that see you at the malls or around town have to ask what you are. You dress in a men's shirt and jeans, and posting on this board is your way of being
one of the boys. You bought a dido in a sex shop that you keep on your night stand, but don't use, you just pretend it's really yours....

Justin, I remember a couple of weeks ago when I made a comment against you and you replied that I am a "rookie" and that I shouldn't get Pa mad cause he might whoop my a$$ and that i should eat pig $hit. I should be insulted that you would think that I am some stoooopid farm boy. Do you remember???? I was man enough to throw you an apology for misinterpreting your post (of course as you pointed out I was drunk at the time).

Time for you to man up and stop your incessant whining. Good luck with your lawsuit trying to prove that Daniel's comments damaged you in anyway. YOU should really read up on Internet libel, or maybe your lawyer should. Nobody knows who you are. Is your name really Justin? If you think my name is Mitchell, I have some stocks in Enron I could sell you real cheap.

Nice job for Cabrera to hit that cycle. What happened to the other hitting stars ? I think that this week will be a breaking point for either the Yankees or Red Sox. August is always a tough month. As they say the dog days of August. I was reading something about MLB and saw an article about Thurman Munson's death. Wow that was 30 years ago? I think I was about 5 years old and don't remember him a lot. Must have been a good player because the article said he was your captain/catcher. Hope the Red Sox prevail thru the week.

#210,Boston Garden,Now that you mention it,it's gone, apparently it couldn't meant something else,no telling how many could've taken offense by it,that would also explain why the #'s get changed too,I never really gave it much thought...
