PEORIA, Ariz. (AP)—Joe Koshansky homered and hit a bases-loaded double to drive in four runs and lead the Colorado Rockies to a 5-3 win over the San Diego Padres on Thursday night.

The first baseman, who finished last season at Double-A, tied it at 3 with his bases-clearing double off the right-field wall in the fourth inning. He drove in the Rockies’ final run in the eighth with a solo homer off San Diego reliever Clay Hensley.

Padres starter Chris Young pitched three scoreless innings before he ran into trouble in the fourth. Eli Marrero doubled with one out and Young walked two before Koshansky’s double.

The Padres had taken an early lead on four singles that led to two runs in the first inning and a solo home run by Mike Piazza.

Tom Martin earned the win in relief of Miguel Asencio, who gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits in 4 2-3 innings.

For the second consecutive spring, Padres utility man Eric Young played in a game against his son, Eric Jr., a prospect in the Rockies organization. Both Youngs started at second base and batted leadoff.

“It’s watching your son grow and mature right before your eyes,” said the elder Young, 38. “I felt like I was a young kid out there. He keeps me going.”
