Brewers 8, Giants 3

Preview | Box Score | Recap

PHOENIX (AP)—Lyle Overbay homered and made two spectacular catches in foul territory, helping the Milwaukee Brewers to an 8-3 victory Saturday over the San Francisco Giants.

The first baseman missed two other popups because of swirling winds and a cloudless, blue sky. He was charged with an error on one.

“Those were tough plays,” Milwaukee manager Ned Yost said.

Overbay, who is batting .400 in 50 spring at-bats, hit a two-run shot of Kirk Rueter in the sixth inning.

Brewers starter Chris Capuano allowed two runs and five hits in six innings. He has given up just three runs in 18 innings this spring.

Rueter had his toughest outing of the spring, giving up four earned runs and six hits in six innings. He allowed Overbay’s second homer of the spring and Carlos Lee’s sixth.

Lee added a two-run double in the seventh off Matt Herges.
