Rodrigo Lopez shoots for his third straight win when the Baltimore Orioles close out a three-game series with the Minnesota Twins at the Metrodome.

Lopez, who lost a season-high three straight starts from June 26-July 5, has won consecutive outings since, including Friday’s 6-3 victory at Seattle. The right-hander, who leads the Orioles with nine wins, allowed three runs and eight hits over 5 1-3 innings, striking out three and walking one.

He’ll be shooting for his first three-start winning streak since June 10-21, when he was in the midst of a 5-0 stretch over six outings.

The Orioles took Monday’s series opener 3-2 and held the same lead in the bottom of the ninth on Tuesday before Minnesota staged a comeback against Baltimore closer B.J. Ryan.

Joe Mauer scored the tying run on a wild pitch by Mauer and Jacque Jones beat out an infield single to drive home the game-winner as the Twins won 4-3, ending a two-game skid.

Miguel Tejada had two hits and an RBI for Baltimore, which slipped into third place in the AL East, 1 1/2 games behind first-place Boston. The New York Yankees are in second, a half-game back.

The Twins closed within 12 games of the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central.

Baltimore’s Rafael Palmeiro had two hits Tuesday, raising his career total to 3,009 and moving into sole possession of 24th place, past Al Kaline, on the all-time list.
