The Baltimore Orioles would have been happy to just fly straight to Los Angeles to begin a three-game series with the Dodgers.

However, Baltimore had to make a stop in Cleveland to play a make-up game against the Indians. The Orioles found themselves down 8-0 after three innings and went on to lose 14-0.

It was Baltimore’s sixth loss in their last nine games, and came a day after manager Lee Mazzilli had held a team meeting following a 7-3 loss to San Francisco.

Mazzilli felt a discussion wasn’t necessary after Monday.

“What am I going to say to them?” he asked. “They must be frustrated. I hope they are after a game like that.”

Now, Baltimore will be looking to bounce back from its fourth shutout loss of the season, third in which they gave up at least 11 runs.

The Dodgers return home after dropping two of three at Boston. Los Angeles lost 4-1 in the finale on Sunday as Pedro Martinez outpitched Hideo Nomo.

Los Angeles has lost five of its last seven games and will return home for six games against the Orioles and the New York Yankees.

The Dodgers got their only run Sunday in the first inning on a single by Dave Roberts, a sacrifice by Cesar Izturis and a single by Milton Bradley.
