Boasting the majors’ lowest road earned run average, Curt Schilling will try to guide the Arizona Diamondbacks to a three-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.

Schilling, who has been slowed by injuries this season after winning 23 games in 2002, is coming off a 3-2 victory at Los Angeles. The 36-year-old right-hander allowed one run and eight hits while striking out eight over seven innings for his first victory since Aug. 17 at Atlanta.

Schilling lowered his road ERA to a major league-low 1.62. Seven of his eight victories this season have come away from Bank One Ballpark.

The Diamondbacks have won eight of 10, including Saturday’s 10-4 decision, and sit 4 1/2 games out of the NL wild-card lead.

Luis Gonzalez drove in three runs, and Steve Finley added two RBIs for Arizona.

The Brewers have lost 13 of 16.

Richie Sexson hit his 41st homer of the season for Milwaukee, leaving him four shy of the club record he shares with Gorman Thomas.

Thomas hit 45 in 1979, before Sexson matched it in 2001.
